Churro Loko

This candy consists of bite-sized, chewy pieces made primarily from a base of tejocote (Mexican hawthorn) and tamarind pulp. They are heavily coated in a sweet, sour, and spicy mixture of ground chili, salt, and citric acid. It is highly popular in Mexico as a standalone snack or as a traditional topping used to prepare regional treats like Michoacán-style gaspachos (fruit cocktails).
